RTU MTAF AERTI has integrated Part 66 modules for B1.1 or B1.3 (depending on the chosen specialization in the program) in the Professional Bachelor’s degree program Aviation Transport. To provide students with the opportunity to obtain maintenance personnel licenses compliant with international requirements, the RTU MTAF AERTI Maintenance Training Organization (hereinafter referred to as AERTI TAMO) was established by the requirements of European Commission Regulation (EC) No 1321/2014 Part 147.
The AERTI Part 147 certified organization offers examinations to become licensed aircraft mechanics and avionics.

HOW DOES THE EXAM WORK?
In accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) No 1321/2014, all basic examinations are conducted using multiple-choice (test-type) and essay question formats. Each test-type question has three alternative answers, one of which is correct. Candidates are allocated a set amount of time to answer one question per module. Each essay-type question requires a written answer and must also be completed within the time limit. Suitable essay questions are designed and assessed on the basis of the syllabus.
IN WHICH CASES CAN THE EXAM BE COUNTED?
The pass mark for each examination module and sub-module in the test part shall be 75 %. The pass mark for each essay question is 75 % in the sense that the candidate’s answer contains 75 % of the required key points in the question and there are no significant errors in any of the required key points.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE EXAM IS NOT COUNTED?
AERTI TAMO offers refresher courses, but you can also choose to take the exam without attending a refresher course. You may retake the exam up to 90 days after the failed attempt. If the trainee chooses to take the examination after attending the re-training course, the examination may be taken 30 days after the unsuccessful attempt. The maximum number of consecutive attempts to pass the examination for each module shall be three. Three further attempts shall be allowed one year after the last unsuccessful attempt.
WHEN AND HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?
Examination of trainees shall be carried out at the trainee’s own request and in the event of breaches of the examination rules:
- Any trainee who is found to have been spying during a theory examination or who is found to have material relating to the subject matter of the examination other than examination papers and associated authorized documentation shall be prohibited from taking the examination for at least 12 months from the date of the incident. AERTI TAMO shall inform the competent authority of any such incident within one calendar month.
- The trainee should also be aware that he/she must attend the full training course and that failure to do so may result in a negative exam result. In order to be allowed to sit the exam, the trainee must attend at least 90% of the scheduled classes.
- In the event of an examiner overstepping his/her authority, i.e. giving answers to a trainee during the theory test, the examiner shall be suspended from his/her duties and the test shall be deemed to be postponed. The Quality Manager shall inform the LV CAA of any such case within one calendar month. If the AERTI TAMO trainee is at the same time a student of the RTU TMF Institute of Aeronautics 1st level higher education professional studies or professional bachelor study program “Air Transport”, the additional rules for the examination shall be laid down in point 7.9 of the RTU Study Regulations.
